Mr. Efren Peñaflorida Jr., head and founder of the Dynamic Teen Company (DTC) in the Philippines, has come a long way from being a victim of bullying and gang fights. Efren has now become an icon for youth volunteering and development, an advocate of education and youth reform.
He is a recipient of numerous local, national and international awards, perhaps most significant of which is the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year.
BENEFICIARY
The purpose of Mr. Peñaflorida's visit aims to raise support and awareness for the Hope for Living Philippines. This project is targeting to reach out to 8,000 children at risk in Metro Manila.
New Life Ministries (NLM) will be providing the Manga booklet that DTC will use in teaching 'values education' courses through the pushcart classroom initiative of the Department of Education (DepEd) of the Philippines.
ACTIVITIES
Several informative and hero-empowering activities are lined-up for Mr. Efren Peñaflorida's visit in Japan.
This includes a press conference, meet-and-greet with supporters, training of trainers in Tokyo and Nagoya, and an afternoon of inspirational talks with students, educators and other professionals.
